MANILA, Philippines — Qualified Social Security System (SSS) members can now apply for the SSS LoanLite program through the UnionDigital Bank mobile application, providing eligible borrowers with a fully digital way to access short-term financial assistance.
The SSS LoanLite, officially known as the SSS Micro Loan Program, is the latest digital lending facility introduced by the pension agency for qualified members who need relatively small amounts of money for immediate financial needs.
UnionDigital Bank is the first of four participating financial institutions (PFIs) to make SSS LoanLite available through its mobile platform, according to the SSS.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph M. de Claro said the digital rollout is intended to make short-term financial assistance more convenient and secure for qualified members.
The agency said it is also coordinating with the other participating financial institutions, which are expected to make LoanLite available through their own digital platforms.

How much can you borrow through SSS LoanLite?
Qualified members may apply for an SSS LoanLite amount ranging from ₱1,000 to ₱20,000.
The amount a member may borrow depends on the average of their 12 latest Monthly Salary Credits (MSCs) and other applicable SSS rules.
The available repayment periods are:
- 15 days
- 30 days
- 60 days
- 90 days
The program carries an 8% annual interest rate, equivalent to approximately 0.67% per month.
Members should review the loan disclosure statement before accepting an offer because the actual amount payable may depend on the applicable loan terms, fees, and repayment schedule.
SSS LoanLite application is fully digital
One of the key features of the new SSS Micro Loan Program is its digital application process.
Qualified employed members can apply through the UnionDigital Bank mobile application without obtaining the employer certification normally required for conventional SSS short-term loans.
The application, verification, and related transactions are handled digitally through the participating financial institution.
SSS said eligible applications may potentially be processed and approved within minutes, although actual processing remains subject to SSS and PFI verification requirements and system processing.

What are the SSS LoanLite requirements?
Members must meet the eligibility conditions under SSS Circular No. 2026-005 to qualify for LoanLite.
Among the applicable requirements are having at least 12 posted monthly contributions and meeting the program’s age and other membership conditions.
Applicants must also:
- Have no past-due Short-Term Member Loans;
- Have no active SSS Micro Loan;
- Maintain an account with a participating financial institution enrolled in the program;
- Meet applicable requirements involving existing loans and benefit claims; and
- Maintain the required status of their SSS account.
These are not the only conditions that may apply. Members are advised to review SSS Circular No. 2026-005 for the complete eligibility requirements, loan conditions, and other program rules.
How will SSS LoanLite payments be collected?
Repayment will generally be handled through an automatic debit arrangement.
The payment will primarily be deducted from the account where the loan proceeds were credited according to the agreed repayment schedule.
SSS encouraged borrowers to pay their loans on time to maintain good standing and potentially remain eligible for future SSS LoanLite availment, subject to the program’s requirements.
SSS warns members about loan fixers and scams
With the digital launch of LoanLite, SSS reminded members to be cautious when applying.
Members should use only the official UnionDigital Bank mobile application when submitting a LoanLite application.
SSS also warned members against individuals or third parties offering to process their applications for a fee or claiming they can guarantee loan approval.
Before accepting an SSS LoanLite offer, borrowers should carefully review the loan disclosure statement. Important details include the interest rate, applicable fees, repayment schedule, and other terms and conditions.
SSS LoanLite offers a digital alternative for short-term needs
The SSS said LoanLite forms part of its continuing efforts to expand financial inclusion and provide members with safer access to formal credit.
The program is intended to provide qualified members with an alternative to informal lending arrangements, particularly when they need relatively small amounts of money for short-term expenses.
With UnionDigital Bank becoming the first participating financial institution to offer SSS LoanLite through its mobile application, more qualified members can now access the program without going through the traditional employer certification process required for conventional SSS short-term loans.
SSS said it will continue working with its other participating financial institutions as they prepare their own digital platforms for the program.
