The Social Security System (SSS) has announced that its members applying for the Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) cards will now receive their cards within 30 working days from application.
According to SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Dooc, the production of UMID cards is now back to normal processing time. The process experienced some delay from mid-February 2017 due to the suspension of operation of the Central Verification System (CVS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The CVS checks the biometric uniqueness of applicants, a requirement prior the issuance of the ID cards.
“We would like to inform our members that the UMID card processing time is now back to its normal processing time. Your UMID cards will be delivered right into your doorsteps within 30 days upon successful data capture via Philpost delivery,” Dooc said.
UMID cards would be released for mailing within 8 days upon successful application and data capture of the member. It will be delivered via PhilPost within two weeks for National Capital Region (NCR) and four weeks for locations outside NCR.

Dooc assured the public that the backlog in card production was addressed and settled on the last week of September 2017.
Almost 1 million UMID card applications were affected by the delay since the technical problem that happened last February. According to SSS ID Card Production Department, the machine used in the process overheated. As of end of September this year, SSS has already released some 1 million UMID cards to its members.
To prevent such circumstances from happening again, the data center of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) which houses the CVS remained stable and compliant to the required temperature.
